57 plate SRI XP

Hey guys,im currently the owner of a 07 arden astra VXR but due to a new house its gotta go, so was just wondering about the low down on the 1.7cdti which is what i have put deposit down on.i just realised they dont have the chrome strip down the side on window,can this be bought and applied??can you change the centre panel for piano black and how much?? is the engine the same to look at as the 1.9??i have a apollo k&n kit so wondered if i could throw it on?not lookin to tune it tho. Im happy for any information you got as i knw nothing bout the SRI. Cheers folks:thumbs:

heard the Piano Black centre console was around £400/£500 for it all

you also can't retro fit the chrome window strips to the rear without replacing the windows I believe

got a 1.7cdti in a sri xp estate and its not a bad little motor gives good mpg and it goes well for a 1.7. going to be ordering a dtuk box for it soon already have a k&n panel filter and deristricted airbox.

i remember seeing somone on here bought a chrome strip from halfrauds, then put it on his :thumbs: obviously, its not like the real thing though:thumbs:

cheers guys,i read few people mention restricted air box,wats this about and how do u de restrict it,i dont like restrictors its gonna be come down on power from my 247bhp vxr as it is :( but needs must,got my eibach pro kit to go on there and gonna tint all windows again and put my sounds in but not spending money on tuning, cant believe it doesnt come with piano black i much prefer that.

De-resticting the airbox, does not offer alot in real terms to be honest, not unless your re-mapping the car. But even then a de-restriction is not great.

There is no real point in trying to get more air in, if you have not made any modifications to get the gas's out the other end.

To do the Piano black centre console, your looking at about £500 for the kit, PLUS the cost of a piano black stereo, which depending which you have could be as much as £800 alone. BUt if your thinking of an after market you would not have this cost.

well looks like the piano black is not happening then and mayb not the air filter,if its a simple straight forward job ill do it anyway,"every little helps" as they say!i got a motorised screen dvd player to put in so the stereo not applicable,and i got the piano black fascia.another question i have is i read that someone with the 1.9 had removed both cats,does the 1.7 also have two?and if so am i hoping too much for the vxr one to fit!!
