Today when I was cleaning my car I noticed my offside sidelight bulb has actually shattered into little bits inside the cluster so I have lots of blue glass scattered around. Any way of getting it out? I've heard the unit is sealed and I think it would be a mission trying to get it out the hole for the bulb to sit in.

:o how could that have happened :o
the only way i can think of is a super mini vacum.
but seriously, i think the best bet is to drop the bumber and take out the whole fixture :(

Is it easy enough to break into the light cluster to remove the broken glass if I was to remove the cluster from the car?

im no expert, but if that had happened to mine.....id remove the whole light unit, then open the back and just tip it
if you wanna put your hand in there, make sure to wear a glove, otherwise youll leave prints, they will then make the inside of the unit moist, making trhe bulbs have a short life
Yep, probably best to take the whole unit out and try and get the bits out that way.
