View Full Version : got pulled by the police today! bloody old bill!
aghhh got pulled today for doing 60mph in a 40mph zone. then they fined me on the spot for my new registration i fitted, all they have is a irmy logo on it but apparntly its not allowed even though every old tom dick and harry has it!!!
got let off with a verball wanring because 3 guys were looking suspicious around a car 5mins away, so luckily they had bigger fish to fry and just pushed me out the van!
it just anoys me they could be doing more productive things with their time!

how much did ya get fined? bit harsh condiering the state of some number plates around
well i think you got away with that
i would take that fine over the 3 points any day
yea i know he wanted to give me 3 points but i told them i wa sin a rush busy day blah blah and in the end settled with the fine. £30 for the reg
a good deal if u ask me lol
i cant tell u of about drivein mines just as bad lol
when ive been pulled for that i just say i was doing 30 mph unless they can prove it
they proved it to me still had the radar locked with a photo on my screen and times on both the images! so annoying!
i dont mine the fine tbh better than the points like u say

I've heard about a lot of people being caught out for incorrect plates recently, a few of my mates have been made to remove the German style steel plates from their dubs. Apparently theres a national crackdown for a few months, but whether thats just hear say or not i don't know.
I think you got away pretty lightly there though fella, a fine is much better than points
yea def. needless to say got the original plates back on there now, cant be btohered to get pulled again, waste time!

Apparently the Law states you may only display a national flag on the plates, no other symbol, car manufacturer or football club etc ... Jobsworths!!!! As long as the letters/numbers are not misplaced I can only assume they have nothing better to do!
I find it disgusting somebody with a subtle registration plate mod, in a well kept fully insured and taxed car gets pulled over and fined, when a filthy pikey looking polish f***** with an indescribable numberplate with 4 bald tires 50 people all tossing each other of inside, driven like a cow in a hurricane gets not even a batted eye lid from the powers that be.

I know the part about car plates you can only have the standard lettering 3d or carbon 3d it has to be properly spaced and has to include the bsi number in bottom right and who made the plate so no more personal slogans.

Obviously, I wasn't there, but, I doubt very much that you were pulled because you had an Irmscher logo on your car. You were doing 20 mph over the speed limit mate. That is quite some margin. However, I know for a fact that Surrey are cracking down hard on plates. Dunno about other forces, but as Steve says, you are only allowed a national flag on your plates, nothing else....which includes a message along the bottom of the plate. Doesn't mean to say I agree with it, but thats the way it is. All things considered, being pulled for doing 60 in a 40 zone and coming away with only a £30 fine, should really be considered a result.
i didnt say i was pulled over for the reg. i was pulled over for speeding but got the fine for the reg after they checked the car

Fooking right!! If the traffic police spent more time getting unsafe cars and drivers off the roads, rather than chasing after and penalizing someone for taking pride in their roadworthy cars, the roads would be much safer, insurance and tax premiums would be lower blah blah.
But, like king1gazza said, he was pulled for speeding first (which I can't argue with). Just unlucky that the jobsworth tw@t who pulled him over was feeling in need of a power/testosterone boost and screwed him for the plates as well.

I don't know, a police officer telling you off for breaking the law, whatever next
bloody hope not but he did say it was just a verbal for the speeding
I can sympathise with you. I got pulled the other day for driving with front and rear fogs on, Even though it was raining that really fine stuff which produces loads of surface spray. They were also nice enough to give me a £30 fine. Couldn’t believe it, to top it all at the beginning of the duel carriage way that I had been pulled on there had been a smash and no police were attending. Then the cherry on the cake was that while he was writing me the ticket 3 other cars drove past with their fogs on. So it wasn’t just me who thought they were needed. so beat that !!!
i knw as he was fining me i saw some chavved up punto with bloody barnsley fc logo on the reg and i sed go tug him then and they just looked at me angrily!

Sorry m8 but if you got caught for doing over the SPEED LIMIT by 20 mph then personally i feel that your fine is more than deserved. And your just lucky that it wasn't more.
I know that i am going against many of the feelings on here but it is only fair that the thankless job is represented.....
Yes traffic can be tough but at the end of the day they are just doing their job, and if you have broken the Law whether it be for flaunting the rules on your plate having no reflectors etc then you should not complain when you are pulled over.

12 points andit's buy buy liscence. When I say Surrey are cracking down, it's not through experience, it's because my other half is an officer, and it is one of the things they have specifically been told to clamp down on. Change it mate. I know it's a bummer, but it aint worth racking up loads of fines over.
I would say that you got away lightly, I know its a pain in the a$$ when you see unroadworthy cars every few miles these days, but I still think he gave you a break...
Just my 2 pence worth

another case where a decent radar detector MAY have saved the day or a Tomtom with the speed trap poi`s could have helped but anyways , next time ask when the radar gun was last calibrated and ask if they have the tuning forks with them ?? if you want to argue the fine and they dont have the details with them you have a strong case due to the radar gun being inacurate
be polite and get names also ... if you have a camera take pictures of them , the van , the weather conditions , the area they were covering with the gun and get details of the distance they clocked you at if not already given
to be totally honest it doesnt bother me at all what hapened today, its not guna change how i drive to be honest, i just wasnt paying attention today which is unusual and never spotted the police. i know i was lucky getting away with it, but there are much better things they could be doing, the area i liv ein druggies are parading the streets and people are getitng mugged every hour they should start there.
no ...they should put cameras near schools and playgrounds , do they NO
they only want money and the biggest farce of all ...the call em safety cameras :wanker:
nah forget the cameras they all **** me off, they need to get the criminals, druggies, muggers, hoodies and yobs all locked up and let us drive our motors
no arguements from me mate :)

well, i know some come with the camera spots.
if you go on the website, you can update your software for camera points or sumthing loike that :thumbs
ps - which one you got?
all tomtoms show poi`s ( points of interest ) speed cam files are the same as any other poi , so adding them is as easy as 123
so unless its a tomtom that has no usb all tomtom`s will show speed cam info :)

2 charming quotes there fellas. I'm sure my wife would be delighted to know her long hours spent trying to nick local scumbags is so well appreciated by the law abiding public
If you don't wanna get nicked, fined or points, it's simple don't speed! I know we are all guilty of it at times but 20 mph is the difference between walking away from a crash or being body bagged at the scene!!
Having a go at the police for pulling you is beside the point! You broke the law and as the saying goes! If you can't do the time, don't do the crime! 3 points was very lucky if it was for speeding!
How productive would you call the policeman who pulled you for speeding and stopped a potential RTA that he would have to scrape off the floor later in the evening? Possibly not just you but the poor unfortunate who was on the other end of a speeding car?
60 in a 40 zone is ridiculous!

On the topic ofCameras, I've noticed that theres one thats been ran over / blown up near TomHs heading towards Speke... I wonder who was to blame for that :P

Mate, they are traffic officers, this is their job !!!!!
Boo-hoo to the lot of you. Laws are made for a reason, and the Police's job is to uphold that law.
Doing 50% over the speed limit with illegal plates, you should have had 6 points and a fine.
Note to self..................Must remember not to break law, today. :D
Be honest though, it's all about the money, traffic police should change there name to LABOUR PARTYS ANNUAL BEER FESTIVAL OUTING FUND, they should carry an ATM in the boot and ask you if you would like cash back with your fine....
They are sneaky, arrogant power mongering smarm in my opinion, and were all entitled to our own ridiculous opinion, so post yours below, forget about political correctness and not offending others, what do YOU really think of traffic police?

No-one likes being pulled over, but if youre caught speeding then take the rap!!
You would soon moan if any family members died by someone speeding. Just look at that tw*t who killed 8 people in a head-on at the weekend driving like a nutter!!!! Only months after being fined for careless driving.
The only blessing being that this time he didn't walk away! Only feel sorry for the poor 7 innocents.
Was the TVR greenish with golden writing? If so I kept up with him and started to pull him in ;).

I personally think they do a bloody good job for lets face it a thankless general public
Having been on the receiving end of a speeding knob when I was younger, remember being cut out of a car, thinking of the crunching of the roof as the car rolled, then the crunching of the metal cutters getting the roof off. Anyone pulled for speeding in my eyes is a bonus!! If it stops one person being killed then all the better.
Having a driving licence is a priviledge, not a god damned right and quite rightly a speeding car is treated as a lethal weapon.
If your defence is well the tvr /scooby/xvxr/whatever was doing 80+ whilst you're sitting in the dock, justifiying your speed in front of the parent whose child you may have killed in the process - think on - the best you can look at is a manslaughter charge!! Is it really worth it for 20 mph!
Sorry but in this day and age there are plenty of opportunities for track days to safely speed and have fun doing it, without the risk to the general public and your licence.
OK the traffic police make money out of ... but it you don't drive like a **** they can't so lets face it whose at fault. The speeding knob or the police?

Been following this thread with interest.
No matter how good we think we are eventually the physics will get you. Twice the speed, four times the energy. 60 in a 40? Whereas at 40 you can stop, at 60 it might well be IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of the extra energy as well should you need to stop suddenly.
A young lad who lived in my town smeared himself and three young girls into the front of a lorry last week. He died shortly after arriving in hospital, although luckily the three passengers survived. Who had to tell his parents? Yep, you got it, the traffic cops who had to watch while it took the fire brigade an hour to cut them out of the car.
They cannot choose when and when not to uphold the law - whatever your opinion of it.

Apparently in Greece the fines are so extortionate that no-one wants to speed which strictly speaking is the correct way to go about it. Here in the UK the fines are relatively cheap and for this reason people continue to speed and the government continues to rake in the cash. Likewise with drink driving, I think you shouldn’t be allowed to consume any alcohol at all.
I have been pulled a lot of times not for doing anything wrong but for looking too young to own the car that I do. One cop in particular was a complete and utter **** he searched me and the whole car as he must have thought I was dealing.
The fine was a little harsh as he could have warned you first yet you got away with the speeding so you’re lucky. (Y)

this thread has got rather heated, but come on though, i havent been stopped yet in my car (touch wood) but around my area they pick on young people so much and never leave them alone. Its not that i dodge the cops either, i flashed one off a roundabout today lol he didnt even put up his hand to say thanks. A lot of traffic cops do think they are "above" the average driver and when they see a young person drive a flash car, its like a red rag to a bull, they just have to torture them. Im not a slow driver, but i do drive carefully through towns/villages so thats probably why i havent been stopped... i know they'll do me on my plates one day

ea exactly. i mean im slow as a granny round my area because i live next to a school and i have fmaily there!!! but all im saying was the motorway was empty no one in front and i gave it a lil boot! no harm done. but anyway everyone has their own opinion some hate the police some love them, everyone just has to agree to disagree
Just a correction on an earlier point. There is no limit to the amount of points allowed on a licence. I am not proud but I kept my licence with 13 points on! Normally it's 12 and you lose it but not all the time.
